A proud native of Texas, Chase Carlton grew up along the Gulf Coast in south Alabama. He graduated with honors from The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina in 2007, earning a B.S. in Business Administration. During his time at The Citadel, he was an active member of the Corps of Cadets, holding multiple leadership positions and excelling as a varsity football player, earning All-Conference honors in the Southern Conference (SoCon).
After college, Chase initially pursued a career in the environmental waste management industry, working for five years before answering his calling to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces in 2012.
Over the course of his nine-year military career, Chase served as a U.S. Army Aviation Warrant Officer, specializing in attack helicopter operations within the North Carolina Army National Guard. Assigned to the 1-130th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion in Morrisville, NC, he accumulated over 1,200 flight hours—200 of which were in combat—as a Pilot in Command of the AH-64D Apache Longbow.
In the summer of 2018, Chase deployed to Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Combat Aviation Brigade as part of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel XVIII. During his seven-month deployment, he flew 200 combat hours across 65 missions, covering 22 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces. His missions directly supported ODA teams, ANSOF 60 Commandos, the CIA, UK Special Forces, and various NATO special operations units.
For his service, Chase has been awarded numerous commendations, including:
- Combat Action Badge
- Multiple Air Medals with “V” and “C” devices (denoting valor and meritorious achievement in combat)
- Armed Forces Reserve Medal with an “M” device (for involuntary mobilization in support of a contingency operation)
Today, Chase and his wife, Betsy, reside in Charleston, SC, where they are raising their two daughters; Reese and Henley. In addition to his work with The Longbow Foundation, Chase focuses on business ventures in the environmental and real estate industries, continuing his commitment to leadership, service, and community impact. Outside of the office, he enjoys all things outdoors, including hunting, fishing, diving, golfing, and flying.
