FOUNDER’S STORY
The Longbow Foundation didn’t start in a boardroom, or with a business plan. It started in the cockpit of an AH-64D Apache Longbow, thousands of feet above the treacherous topography of the Hindu Kush Mountains in Afghanistan, where I flew through countless nights, scanning the terrain for threats, knowing that the men and women flying beside me and on the ground depended on my persistent focus for survival. It started in the relentless adrenaline of combat operations, where there was no room for error, and the mission always came first. It started in the moments between those missions—where I witnessed firsthand the weight that combat places on the shoulders of those who fight monsters.
I spent nine years in military aviation, accumulating over 1,200 flight hours, 200 of them in combat, supporting some of the most elite warriors in the world—ODA teams, ANSOF 60 Commandos, CIA operatives, UK Special Forces, and various NATO units. The work was demanding, the stakes were life or death, and the men I served alongside were among the best the world has to offer. But what I wasn’t prepared for was what would happen after.
When my time in uniform came to an end, I found myself standing at a crossroads. I had spent years executing missions with precision, following orders, and carrying out objectives that were clear and defined. The standard was perfection. But now, I was stepping into a world where no mission orders were given, where I had to define my own purpose. And I quickly realized that I wasn’t alone in this struggle—countless combat veterans, especially my friends from the special operations and aviation communities, were facing the same fight.
For many, combat isn’t the hardest part of their story—coming home is. The structure, the brotherhood, and the relentless drive of service does not just disappear when you take off the uniform. But what happens when the mission ends, and you haven’t found a new one? Too many warriors find themselves without direction, without purpose, and without the support they need to transition into a meaningful next chapter.
That’s why I created The Longbow Foundation—to change that story.
A New Mission
I knew that healing, growth, and rediscovery wouldn’t come from sitting in an office or following a generic transition program. It needed to be something real—something visceral—something that spoke to the warrior spirit.
I have always found that answer in the wild.
Hunting, fishing, snowboarding, diving, traveling and exploring the outdoors had always been a part of my life. But I came to understand they were more than just hobbies—they were a way to reconnect, to find clarity, and to rediscover the strength and resilience that I knew I possessed as a man. After experiencing the reality of intense combat and then the years of decompression after the fight, I ultimately realized that my lifelong passion in the outdoors had become a much needed source of mental therapy. The wild provides an outlet where veterans, like myself, can continually challenge themselves, process their past, and start writing a new future.
The Longbow Foundation was built to do just that—to take combat veterans on life-changing outdoor experiences, but more importantly, to help them craft a new mission plan for their future. Through mentorship, brotherhood, and strategic planning, we don’t just provide an escape—we provide a roadmap. We help selected veterans define their vision, build habits for success, and create the connections necessary to thrive in civilian life.
The battlefield may be behind us, but the mission isn’t over. We owe it to those who have fought to give them the tools they need to win this next fight—the fight for a meaningful, purpose-driven life.
This is now my mission.
At The Longbow Foundation, we make sure our warriors never fight alone and hope that you can support helping us develop an unprecedented approach towards supporting our nation’s heroes. If you believe in standing beside those who have given everything, I invite you to join us. Because the greatest battles don’t always happen in combat—they happen in the quiet moments after.
